LETTER: Yes, you can solve most of your problems, but …

'The studies done by none-religious people came out with some amazing conclusions. People who practice faith generally are happier and healthier' – local pastor.

• Pastor Gerrit Mes of the AFM Pentecostal Fellowship writes:

Studies now show that going to a place of worship, reading a book of faith, saying prayers and meditating have a positive effect on people.

Physical and mental health are just two of the many positive results of the above.

The studies done by none-religious people came out with some amazing conclusions. People who practice faith generally are happier and healthier.

Knowing there is a God gives people hope. Knowing that there is a purpose for our existence gives us direction.

As I look back on my own life, faith has had a positive influence on my life. Knowing God has my back. Knowing I can call on him helps.

But faith is not a guarantee for an easy, problem-free life. Like you, I have faced many dark days; uncertainty and fear often came my way. But I got through it with a little help from my friend above. Faith is not a “get out of jail” card. Faith is that hope that gets me through the day.

Yes, you can solve most of your problems. Yes, you can call for help from family and friends. But having faith in a higher power, they say, has definite advantages.
