LETTER: God and you together are masters of your destiny

'Whatever you are facing today, it is in your power, with God’s help, to write the last chapter in the story of your life' – pastor.

• Pastor Gerrit Mes of the AFM Pentecostal Fellowship writes:

Nelson Mandela said, “The greatest glory in living lies not in never falling, but in rising every time”.

Famous and respected all over the world, Nelson Mandela has been an inspiration to many.

Reading between the lines, I sense that he, like all of us, faced giants, experienced battles and knew defeat. But growing old, his wisdom gives us hope. You will fail, you will fall, but get up, dust yourself off and keep going.

Trying does not guarantee success but quitting seals defeat. All of us face goliaths, rivers, even armies, that want to destroy our lives. Often the odds may be overwhelming. But if you don’t give up, there is a chance of an amazing story.

Jesus Christ was hunted from the day he was born. His enemies were some of his closest friends. Judas sold him for 30 pieces of silver, Peter denied knowing him, and Thomas doubted him. But Jesus survived an execution, burial and desertion by his own. Whatever you are facing today, it is in your power, with God’s help, to write the last chapter in the story of your life.

God and you together are masters of your destiny. Get up, you have a story to live.
