Power couple strikes again

After striking some extravagant poses to show off their hard work, Jacqueline achieved third place in the Figure division, while Izak came fourth in the ‘Masters over 50’ division.

A local power couple – Izak and Jacqueline Groenewald – made Krugersdorp proud when they excelled in the IBFF (International Bodybuilding and Fitness Federation) SA Championships.

After striking some extravagant poses to show off their hard work, Jacqueline came in third place for the Figure division, and Izak in fourth for the ‘Masters over 50’ division which took place on Saturday, 9 September. This competition was held in Kempton Park and served to ensure that both Jacqueline and Izak are fit enough to be part of the South African teams.

They competed against numerous athletes from all over South Africa including Cape Town, Pretoria and the Free State, to name just a few.

“As always, I had my family and fitness clients to remind me exactly who I am. Standing next to other athletes who looked really good got me thinking about the months of hard work and all the cake sacrifices I had to make, and by grace it paid off,” Jacqueline said.

This follows after Jacqueline finished first in both the Welkom Classic and Provincial Championships, while Izak finished third in the Provincials earlier this year.

As this power duo has secured their places in the SA teams, they will now be representing the country on 14 October at the IBFF World Championships in Italy.

“The knowledge I gained being on this journey is priceless. The lessons learned will always remind me of who I never want to be,” she said.

“I came to realise that as human beings we often fail because we allow ourselves to, and many times our impatient nature takes control, causing us to give up because we always assume we won’t be good enough.”

She went on to say that one must always strive for self-improvement rather than self-sabotage.

“Perfection doesn’t come easy, and if I achieved it, I would be illegal,” Jacqueline stated.
