Cycle challenge a premier seeding event

The Road Championship is a premier seeding event for the Cape Town Cycle Tour.

The 2018 BestMed Berge en Dale Championship, presented by Optimum Financial Services, moves one weekend later in 2018. The Road Championship takes place on Saturday 24 February at Cradlestone Mall while the Mountain Bike Championship is scheduled for Sunday 25 February at Hero Hobby Park in Krugersdorp.

The Road Championship is a premier seeding event for the Cape Town Cycle Tour and presents distance options over 107km and 59km.

The state-of-the-art Cradlestone Mall on the R28 provides a user-friendly experience with ample parking and lots to do once the race finishes on the Saturday.

There is plenty of safe parking in the parking lot at Cradlestone and entrance via the main gates will be free to cyclists between 4.30am and 7am. Cyclists will be directed to the undercover parking area. If your bike is on your vehicle’s roof, please don’t go there!

The final water point is in the parking lot at the mall. No vehicles will be allowed to park in the area around the finish line on the N14 because it will create a risk for cyclists and other road users.

Please allow enough time for parking and give your full cooperation to the people regulating parking at the venue.

On Sunday the Mountain Bike Championship offers delightfully varied 40km and 15km route options on the Krugersdorp Ridge with spectacular views and flowing trails.

The provisional results will be available on the website www.racetec.co.za within 24 hours. Objections must be lodged with the race organiser, referee or CSA officials within one hour after the finish of the race, and must be accompanied by a payment of R100. Further changes to the results must be sent to queries@racetec.co.za no later than seven days after the race. No changes will be made thereafter, as they cannot be included in the National Seeding Index.

Late online entries will only be accepted at the registration venues as indicated on the website and not on the day of the race.

For all the race info and to enter, go to the event website.

The prize-giving ceremony will begin at 11am on the lower level of the mall in front of Woolworths. There are cash prizes for the professional riders, and many other prizes for participants attending the ceremony. Please follow the directions to the area to be used for the prize-giving.
