For a second year, the Krugersdorp Bowling Club hosted a Fun Bowls Day in aid of Cansa.

Recently the West Rand Cansa Association called on all bowlers and non-bowlers to join them in a day of raising funds and having fun, and boy, did they answer!

For the second year, the Krugersdorp Bowling Club hosted a Fun Bowls Day in aid of Cansa. During this event, non-bowlers and total beginners were presented with the opportunity to experience lawn bowls with the help of seasoned bowlers.

This year’s fun day welcomed an exceptional total of 32 teams which consisted of four players each. According to club president, Andy Selby, the idea behind the event is to try and introduce people who have never played before, to the game of lawn bowls.

The club was also privileged to have had Dr Lucille Singh and her haematological oncology team from Life Flora Hospital participate in the fun.

With the support of approximately 170 people – which included bowlers from several clubs and the community – the proceeds accumulated to more than R15 000.

The fun-filled day was capped off with a prize-giving, raffles and a scrumptious lunch.
