The battle between Germany and South Africa was intense, as the teams seemed evenly matched when the games started. With little time left on the clock and the score 3–2 in favour of Germany, the Sanpa team had to up their game and before the end they scored another point. However the game plan just didn’t work out as planned and after a great show of force by South Africa, the German team scored and won the game. In South Africa’s second and third games, they won with a score of 4–1.
The two victories was enough for South Africa to proceed to the quarterfinals, where Sanpa met up with one of the strongest paintballing countries – Russia.
The team members did their best against Russia, but the experience of the Russians was just too much for South Africa, as the Russians took a 4–0 win.
Although it wasn’t the score they wished to see, the South African team ended 7th, which placed them in the middle of the 15 countries.
The Russian team ended up winning the Paintball World Cup.
