Equestrian goes for gold
Tasmin became the SA Schools Champion for Dressage (Prelim class) last year and was selected for the SA Schools Equestrian team.
Local equestrian, Tasmin Smith, riding for Hunter Equestrian Centre in the Cradle of Humankind, won first place in the Gauteng South African National Equestrian School Association (Sanesa) Dressage (Novice class) on her trusty steed, Collingwood.
This talented Grade 12 learner from the Kings School will also be representing Gauteng in the National Schools Competition in October after coming third in the Performance Riding division.
This followed after Tasmin became the SA Schools Champion for Dressage (Prelim class) last year and was selected for the SA Schools Equestrian team.
Tasmin said that the achievement has taken a lot of hard work, time, effort, dedication, commitment and patience, among other qualities. To achieve her goals, she practises six days a week in the saddle on Collingwood. She was also thrilled to have won the Sportswoman of the Year award, Equestrian Rider of the Year and to receive an honours badge for her school at the end of 2017.
