Local resident and Alma Mater International School learner, Danielle van Wyk, is a girl of many talents, all of which are just pieces of the puzzle that make her the astounding athlete she is today.
When the 17-year-old Danielle is not perfecting her kicks and strikes in the dojo, she is most likely to be found on the sports field, working on her javelin-throwing technique.

This dedicated athlete, who is currently a senior Black Belt, was only five years old when she decided to pursue the exhilarating world of karate.
Karate has taken her to Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Belgium, Romania, Spain, Indonesia, Croatia and Dubai as well as Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Botswana, Zambia and Cameroon. Her biggest achievements include winning the Goju Rye Karate Championships in her division in both 2015 and 2017.
Even though karate remains her main focus, Danielle has also been very passionate about javelin throwing for the past six years.
Her biggest achievement in the javelin item thus far was achieving gold at the Schools SA Top 30 Championships last year
Even though she is very fond of karate and javelin, she added that she enjoys participating in a wide variety of other sports, like general athletics too.
Although Danielle excels in all sports, she would like to remain involved in karate and become the best karateka she can be.
