Local racer kicks it up a gear

This achievement did not come as a surprise since he has been burning the race car rubber for the past four years.

Rudi Kronström (16) recently made headlines when he came first in the C-class division at the annual Phakisa 200km Race that was held in the Free State during September.

This super fast and flowing freeway circuit saw a total of 54 racers put their skills to the test, with Rudi being the youngest on the track. Not only was he the first to complete 54 laps in his division, but he also came second in the Index category.

This achievement did not come as a surprise since he has been burning the race car rubber for the past four years.

He soon made a name for himself when he landed third place in the National Race Track Championships at the age of only 13. After winning most of his oval track races he decided to kick it up a gear by competing in circuit track races.

With the help of Goldwagen Krugersdorp, he built himself a C-class vehicle that enables him to compete in circuit track races.

Since he wants to race for the rest of his life, his biggest dream is to compete in Formula One.
