World class show-jumping at prestige equestrian farm
World class show-jumping took place at the Maple Ridge Equestrian Farm recently when they hosted the FEI World Cup Qualifiers.
The Fédération Equestre Internationale (FEI) World Cup Qualifiers took place at the Maple Ridge Equestrian Farm in Oaktree in October.
The FEI World Cup is a series of international show-jumping events hosted by 15 leagues, including Australia, New Zealand, Japan, South East and Central Asia, China, North and South America, South Africa, the Middle East, Caucasia and Central and Western Europe.
Riders have to gather points over a 12-month period in order to compete in the Longines FEI World Cup Final that will be held in Gothenburg, Sweden in April 2019. The winner at the final will then be crowned the World’s Greatest Show-jumper.

The Mogale City riders did very well during the competition, with Tarryn-Anne Combrinck finishing in the Top 10 of both the Adult Open 1,30m class with her horse, Equeen W, and the Adult Open 1,35m with her horse, Erreplus Fiorenza.
Liezl Cloete came second in the Junior 1m Accumulator with her horse, Brandenburg Crimson Tide.
The world cup qualifier results were: First place overall – Jonathan Clarke with his horse, Data Science Hummer van Het Bevrijdthof. Nicole Horwood with her horse, Mark White Capital Hitoshi, came in second, and Marlene Sinclair with her horse, Comaro, took the third place.
The Cancer Association Of South Africa (Cansa) class was also one of the events which supported the association. All the proceeds from this ride were donated to Cansa.

The Top 3 in this class were: Shannon Smith with her horse, Mark White Nissan Catena 96, in first place, Paige Lee Goetsch with her horse, Rathmor Quiet Man, in second place and Laurence Mowatt, with his horse, Evergreen M, in third place.
There was also a fundraising dinner in support of Cansa that was hosted at Usambara Lodge. There was an auction and all the money raised was donated to Cansa. All in all they raised R330 000 through the auction, the fund-raising dinner, the Cansa class and donations.
The world class course was built and designed by Marco Behrens, Kate Launder and Brett Webber.
