Talented Rebecca on her way to New York

The talented Rebecca recently expressed her creative side at the Talent Africa Competition and not only walked away with several gold medals but also an invitation to go to New York City to compete.

The very talented and creative Rebecca Victor was recently chosen to travel to New York as part of the South African dance team.

Rebecca started her Latin American dancing career in 2014, but her love for creative things started long before.

As a child, she started with ballet and tap dancing, but became obsessed with the international show Strictly Come Dancing, and decided to learn Latin American dancing three years ago.

In March she represented Krugersdorp High School at the South African Federation of Performing Arts at the South African National Talent Africa 2019 competition. She loves expressing her creative side in different ways and entered her visual art as well as participating in dance.

For her visual art, she was awarded a gold medal for drawing, a gold medal for painting and a silver medal for painting.

Her open dance solo Samba and Jive as well as solo Cha-Cha ensured her two gold medals.

Rebecca said that she practised twice a week for four to five hours at a time. When she is not practising she assists the instructor to teach Sonar Energy dancing to other students.

Rebbeca wants to get her South African Dance Teachers Association (Sadta) qualification, which will enable her to teach as well as judge future dance competitions. She also plans on studying graphic design after school. But for now, she loves being expressive in any artistic way possible.

In order for her to go to New York with the SA team in June, she has to pay R69 000. This includes all travel, accommodation and tours. She would also like her mother to go with her and that will cost an extra R59 000.

If you would like to assist the family, you can contact Beth Victor on 083 448 6977 or email bethvictor96@gmail.com.
