Helping charity one swing at a time

The Cross Connect Community Outreach recently hosted a golf day to raise funds for the projects they run in the community.

The Cross Connect Community Outreach (CCCO) team hosted a very successful golf day at the Krugersdorp Golf Club recently.

CCCO is a non-profit organisation that strives to help the children from the community. They try to ensure that the children do not only have everything they need for their development but also what they need to be successful in every aspect of their lives.

Chris Heyns and Kyle Tolman from CCCO helped to organise the event.

Kyle Tolman, director of the CCCO, said the organisation currently supports more than 25 Early Childhood Development (ECD) centres which about 1 100 children attend. They also serve 100 children a meal every week.

The aim of the golf day was to raise funds for the various projects the organisation is running. They offer mentorship or teacher training for the ECD centres, food security and hygiene initiatives for the children.

Phillip van Dyk Geyser and Pine Pienaar thoroughly enjoyed the day.

Although some rain fell on Friday, they did not have to cancel the event. After waiting out the rain for an hour, the 144 players could return to the course.

The format of the day’s game was an individual point system, which meant that players competed individually for points, unlike the usual four-ball format with a shotgun start. The winners were, in third place, Timo Crous, second place Freddie Hudson and first was Hugo Basson.
