Football Without Borders celebrate women
The Football Without Borders organisation recently hosted a women's sport day in celebration of women.
In August, Football Without Borders celebrated women in a special way.
In the spirit of Women’s Month, they hosted a Girl Empowerment Sports Festival. The festival formed part of the organisation’s flagship programme called Lezintombiziyakhona, which aims to empower young girls through participation in sport, physical exercise and life skills activities. The life skills activities address social issues that generally would affect young girls.

The Gauteng Department of Sport and the Mogale Municipal Sports Department also supported the event by sponsoring prizes for the netball and football winner, as well as refreshments, among others.
The football teams that participated on the day were the Best XI, Shingi, Westonaria Ladies Academy, Shongi FC and Kromdraai Ladies FC.
The netball was represented by the Ruimsig Girls Club, the Mighty Strikes, the Young Stars, the Mighty Girls, the Kromdraai team, the WMS netball, the Tornado netball and the Cradle Teenagers netball teams.

Michael Mapfunde, the founder of the organisation said they aim to make it an annual event.
“We would like to thank the volunteers from Kromdraai and the community who all helped to make this event a success. Also Eric Mabirimisa, who was the project coordinator,” said Michael.
