Rage fighter going for black belt

Placing high in the tournaments he takes on, Jerome Oberholzer has his eye on finally attaining his black belt in kickboxing soon.

Team Rage 3’s very own coach, Jerome Oberholzer, is gearing up and going for his black belt in November.

Before he can retire his brown belt in kickboxing though, there are some requirements he needs to comply with, such as acting as referee at a few matches, maintaining a peak fitness level and performing well in multiple tournaments.

Holding classes and training at the Team Rage 3 club alongside Sensei Antoinette Visser has surely prepared him for this task.

On Saturday, 14 September, he took on the K1 Berario Centre Central Gauteng Event, placing an impressive overall third, and allowing him to move on to the Great North 3 championship on 19 October.

At the Berario fight, he faced off against two competitors. Being in the heavyweight class himself, Jerome fought one heavyweight fighter, and one slightly lower weight competitor, winning one and losing the other with only a couple of points difference.
