No one saw them coming
Team Rage 2 kickboxers took on fighters from all over and ended up on top.
They’re the underdogs … the team that no one saw coming.
They’re the fighters who shocked the crowd and walked away with the win. They’ve all been training for less than seven months, having started fighting only in April this year when the Team Rage 2 kickboxing club was opened.
Yet, they took on Goliath and lived to tell their tales of victory.
“I had no idea that we would grow so quickly. For them to start off as beginners and end up here … By the end of the month, we will be graduating 16 members, so they were only white belts during the fight.”
These young guys went on to conquer the Greater North 3 tournament in Newlands, Johannesburg, and faced off against over 450 fighters, most far more experienced than this rag-tag group of kickboxers.
In the end, each player took home a couple of gold, silver or bronze medals. Sensei Fred Lourens, wanting to inspire his team, also competed and ended up winning three gold medals.
