Swimming his way to victory
Kinnaé Lindeque just loves water, and this was never more true than when he brought home two medals from the South African Junior Championships.
Submerged in water. That is where 15-year-old Kinnaé Lindeque feels at home.
His love for swimming paid off when he took home two medals from the South African National Junior Championships at Delville Swimming Pool in Germiston from 26 to 28 March.
He secured a gold medal in the U/16 200m backstroke and a silver in the U/16 100m backstroke events.

This Grade 10 High School Monument learner’s love for water started when he was very little and he learnt to swim early on in his life. Kinnaé used to watch his older brother, Keegan compete in galas and open-water events. This inspired him to swim as well.
He has been a competent swimmer ever since the age of six, and at the end of Grade 2 he started to swim competitively.
“I love being in the water. I love the feel of water. I love competing. Galas give me an adrenaline rush which I love, and I have made a lot of friends,” Kinnaé explained.
When it comes to training he is very dedicated and trains six days a week under the watchful eye of his coach, Brandon Hattingh.
So what is next for this talented athlete?

He wants to continue competing and reach his full potential. He also hopes to compete internationally one day.
Apart from being a talented swimmer, Kinnaé is also a hard worker and an academic achiever.
