Run Zone’s elite making us proud

Two of Run Zone's top runners recently posted impressive times in the first races of the year.

The Run Zone West Rand’s top road warriors have hit the ground running this year with two of its Grand Master members having completed events throughout January.

Alan Coulter took on the Krugersdorp Road Runners’ Berg en Dal race on Wednesday, January 12, facing the sudden heavy rainfall head-on to finish the 15km hill-heavy route in just one hour and 13 minutes.

Alan later joined fellow RZWR runner Clifford Diettrich at the Berts Bricks Great Brick Run on Saturday, January 22 where the former finished in one hour and 42 minutes, with Clifford completing the 21km in one hour and 36 minutes.

Runners could choose to carry a brick with them on their run, which Alan was happy to do. Clifford, though, chose to double down and push himself to the limit, not picking up a brick when the time came. The two have been with RZWR for about three years, but have quite a running record.

Alan has been running for about 42 years, is classified a Grand Master runner and has taken on the Skyrun in the Eastern Cape; the Mutter Mountain Mania in the Drakensberg; the Comrades in KwaZulu-Natal; Om Die Dam in Hartbeespoort; the Sasol Marathon; and the Marakele Marathon.

Clifford has been running for roughly 14 years, is in the Master running category and has also run the Mutter Mountain Mania, Om Die Dam and the Comrades.
