Monument Primary learners smash swimming records

They took the Butterfly U/11 and younger trophy; the Butterfly U/12 and older trophy; Mixed Medley relay U/11 and younger trophy; Mixed Medley relay U/12 and older trophy; Freestyle relay boys U/11 and younger trophy; and Freestyle relay boys U/12 and older trophy.

Learners from Monument Primary School competed in the prestigious West Rand Gala recently. The school took first place on the day and had some outstanding results.

During the gala, Monument Primary swimmers managed to break two records and rake in 21 first places, 17 second places and eight third places. No one placed lower than third.

Joshua van der Bank and Brody van der Merwe broke the U/8 backstroke record, while Kairen van der Bank and Tyrone Wiseman broke the U/11 freestyle record.

To top it all off, the school’s swimmers walked away with seven trophies which included the West Rand Gala trophy.

SWIMMING:
Kyran van Heerden and Adam Brown won the Sean du Toit trophy for butterfly boys U/12 and older.
