Gymnastics club shines with 14 national gymnasts and one international bid
Summit Gymnastics Club shows off their achievements at the National Gymnastics Championship.
Over the vault to the floor and bar and across the tumble track, Summit Gymnastics Club went above and beyond with their achievements in the National Gymnastics Championship.
Coach Lauren Perry says 14 of their gymnasts and tumblers qualified and competed at the championships in Cape Town at the end of September, where they competed in tumbling and artistic gymnastics.
The medal results are as follows:
• Tumbling:
Jaans Kok – Level 4 – gold
Sudré Pretorius – Level 7 – gold
Jennifer Lambrechts – Level 5 – silver
Kaitlyn Crous – Level 8 – bronze
• Artistic:
Kaitlyn Crous – Level 7 – received gold for vault
Kenzi Germishuys – Level 4 – received gold on the Uneven Bars and fifth place overall
Elonay Pretorius – Level 4 – received a bronze for the Beam and is a bronze medalist overall
She added Kenzi and Elonay competed against 88 girls in their age group.
“We are especially proud of Elonay, who was also selected based on her achievements by Gymnastics South Africa to represent South Africa at the Region 5 competition to be held in Zimbabwe this December,” Lauren concluded proudly.
