Young KBC bowler ‘a Protea in the making’

KBC member Leila Snyman flew the Krugersdorp bowling flag high having won the SA Masters U30 bowling tournament.

The SA Masters is one of the year’s most prestigious tournaments, and Krugersdorp Bowling Club (KBC) did not disappoint.

According to KBC spokesperson David Parker, Leila Snyman was invited to play in the SA U30 ladies’ singles event, and although the competition was tough, she came out on top.

“The best U30 players from around the country were invited. Leila won the section going up against fellow Sables player, Thabelo Muvhango, in the final,” David said.

David added that playing in a national final is always nerve-racking.

“Leila started a bit shaky, however, she got into her stride keeping Thabelo under constant pressure. She went on to win the title 21–15.”

A very proud president of KBC, Andy Selby, added the club in its entirety is very proud of Leila and she is one of the upcoming stars of South African bowls.

“She has a bright future ahead of her and a Protea bowler in the making,” he added.

David concluded that Sables bowling had a clean sweep in the ladies’ U30 division, where Leila won gold, Thabelo silver and Devin de Jong bronze.
