Krugersdorp bowlers stand out at Randfontein event
A Noordheuwel team secured second place, while a Krugersdorp team won the best ‘war cry’ as bowlers gathered for a vibrant Ladies Day at Randfontein Bowling Club.
Bowlers from Krugersdorp were among those who took to the greens as the Randfontein Bowling Club hosted its annual Ladies Day, bringing together 96 participants from across the West Rand, Randburg and Fochville for a day of sport, style and celebration.
This year’s event followed a vibrant “Shades of Pink” theme, with participants dressed in creative variations of pink, adding a festive atmosphere to the occasion.

The day began with a welcoming breakfast, giving attendees time to socialise before heading onto the greens for the first round of play. The competition was enjoyed in good spirits, with teams embracing both the challenge and the camaraderie.
One of the highlights of the day was the energetic war cry competition, where teams showcased their creativity, unity and enthusiasm, earning cheers from fellow participants.

After additional rounds of bowling, the women enjoyed a buffet lunch, providing an opportunity to relax before the day’s final proceedings.
Organiser Charmaine Stonehouse described the event as ‘crazy but fun’.
“It was a wonderful day for us as hosts and the competitors,” she said.
She also encouraged residents to try the sport. They meet at the Randfontein Bowling Club every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday from 13:00 until late afternoon.

Staff from Lenmed Randfontein Private Hospital were also present, offering health support services including blood pressure and sugar level testing, as well as free flu vaccinations.
The event concluded with a prize-giving ceremony, recognising standout performances and celebrating participation, and bringing a successful Ladies Day to a close.
