The 11 participating schools were Avianto Estate Private School, Lesego Primary School, Kingswood Academy, Kings School Muldersdift, Unity, Muldersdrif, Vine Christian School, Khululekani Thuthuzekani, Tsholosego, and Enthuthukweni. Age groups involved were U7s through to U13s.

Mandy van der Walt, Avianto Estate Private School marketer explained the event was also jointly hosted by Laerskool Muldersdrif.

“The host school wanted to use our facilities because they had water problems in their school and it was our first time hosting the event. What stood out for me is seeing schools from different communities working together to make the event a success.”

Mullies school principal Herman Byleveld added, “Due to the heavy rainfall in December, parts of our sportsfield did not drain well. Parts of our field were not suited for use and therefore we approached Avianto, which is close to our school. We also have a good relationship with Avianto. Avianto is a beautiful facility and they are very helpful and accommodating. It needs to be mentioned that Curro Krugersdorp, Hoërskool Bastion, and Hoërskool Monument also offered to host this event.”

Mullies’ sportsfield has been adapted in the meantime and they are looking forward to hosting numerous sporting and cultural events again.
