Final showdown as Best of the West wraps up

Teams gear up to close the festival on a high note.

The fields at Krugersdorp High School are set to come alive once again today as the Best of the West Festival enters its final round of matches.

Following an action-packed second day on Saturday, April 4, teams return for one last opportunity to finish the tournament strongly.

With players preparing and supporters expected along the sidelines, a full day of rugby and hockey lies ahead.

Day two delivered several standout performances across both codes, with schools continuing to compete in front of enthusiastic parents and supporters.

In rugby, KHS’ girls’ team opened the day with a dominant 32–0 win over Girls Invitational. Hoërskool Roodepoort later secured a 45–29 victory against Kyle College, while Laerskool Westgold recorded a convincing 53–0 win over Laerskool Florida.

The hockey fixtures also delivered competitive encounters.

Rustenburg opened with a 3–1 win over Gateway, while their U16 side beat Monnas U16 4–2.

In another match, Gateway fought back to secure a 2–2 draw against Sutherland.

With day two complete, teams return this morning determined to end the festival on a high.
