Every day should be Mandela Day

We here at looklocal find it very strange how businesses and organisations sometimes react to initiatives such as Mandela Day.

Literally a few days before Madiba’s birthday, the team was flooded with phone calls mostly from people and organisations trying to get free publicity through their 67 minutes of giving back.

At one stage we couldn’t keep up and started wondering why these people only want to give back on this specific day, instead of making every day Mandela Day.

What was your experience?

It was a terrific day and everyone stepped up to the challenge, but ultimately we supported those who give consistently, no matter what ‘day’ of the year it is.

Generous givers do not expect anything in return.
