The freak accident on Wilgerood Road last week Friday that led to the unfortunate death of a 46-year-old woman should be considered a wake-up call regarding our duty as citizens.

Ever since that tragic afternoon, speculation is rife as to how the incident could have been prevented and who is to blame for the death of this woman.

Fingers are being pointed at Joburg EMS for not extinguishing the fire when they were dispatched to the burning trees hours before the accident, and that they provided little assistance at the scene of the accident. Should City Parks be held liable for not taking preventive measures?

We appeal to the community to persist in reporting potential hazard until they are addressed before another life is lost.
