The fact that baby Lucky survived against all odds should be an eye-opener.

Never before has the need been this urgent for authorities to act swiftly to provide a humane solution for women who do not have the capacity to care for their babies.

One question remains: why is there such a high incidence of babies being abandoned?

Who or what is to blame? Is it a social or moral issue, or is our education system to blame when a mother dumps her baby as if it is garbage?

Without doubt we as community members need to become more involved.

Voice your opinions and support worthy causes, or volunteer to teach life skills to those who need it.

Maybe it’s time to open our eyes to what really is going on around us, Krugersdorp?
