I’ve noticed that only a handful of Krugersdorpers have soccer world cup fever.

It is actually very sad.

Perhaps it is because South Africa is not really part of the world cup this year and that 2010 was an epic year for us as a country.

Can you remember how it was like in Krugersdorp? The streetlights had all the participating countries’ flag hanging on them and everywhere you went, people were wearing their green and gold.

People dressed the mirrors of their vehicles with flag-bearing mirror sleeves and some even had little flags posted on their roofs.

It was a magical time and I am missing it.

Maybe next year with the rugby world cup our spirits will be lifted?

Do you think we will embrace the rugby world cup more than the soccer?

Just a thought …
