Why would you smack a baby, Krugersdorp?

It always baffles me when preschool teachers hit young children, especially babies.

The first thing that goes through my head is, why? Why do you choose to hit a baby?

To clearly state my point, maybe you should think back to your very first memory of your childhood.

I clearly remember the afternoon my parents pulled our family vehicle to the side of the road to let out my naughty brother and me. I was 5 years old.

I was devastated to think my parents do not want me anymore because I was too naughty.

That memory is the earliest memory of my childhood I can remember. I don’t remember any of the other times I was punished for being a naughty baby or toddler.

Therefore my point is; how can a baby of nine-months be smacked on the bum for being naughty?
