Athletes braved swimming in cold water, running and cycling long distances to prove their mettle in another one of RedHub’s multi sport events held at Cradle Moon on September 12.
In the Road Standard triathlon Pietjan van der Merwe came out victorious in the men’s category with a time of 2 hours and 8 minutes while Carla Johnson took the women’s first place with a time of 2 hours 40 minutes.
Tristan Haig took first place in the Cross Triathlon standard race for the men with a time of 2 hours and 41 minutes. Charleen Swanepoel took first place for the women with a time of 3 hours and 19 minutes.
In the Road Sprint triathlon Ruan Naude was victorious with a time of 1 hour and 12 minutes, while Tannith Ross took first place for the women with a time of 1 hour and 24 minutes.
In the Cross triathlon sprint it was Mikayla Ernst who finished first for the women with a time of 1 hour and 25 minutes, and Gerald Di Pasqale took first place for the men with a time of 1 hour and 32 minutes.
In the Teams Standard triathlon Team Rob Donkin took the win with a time of 2 hours and 29 minutes, while team Nadine van Reenen was the winners in the team sprint triathlon with a time of 1 hour and 26 minutes.
When it came to the 3 000m open water swim John Ramsay finished first with a time of 42 minutes and 13 seconds, and Lisa-Jo Hinckley finished first in 46 minutes and 5 seconds.
John also won the 1 500m swim for men in a time of 22 minutes and 41 seconds, and Chante Joubert won the women’s category with a time of 25 minutes and 1 second.
In the female 750m swim Gabby Mchugh finished first in a time of 16 minutes and 50 seconds, while Joshua Penney finished first for the men in a time of 10 minutes and 54 seconds.
The next event will be on October 10, and entries are now open.
