• Tri Fitness Challenge
Put on your fitness shoes and support the Tri Fitness Challenge in association with ReboundSA to be held on Saturday, October 8. All proceeds will go to charity, in this towards CANSA. The challenge consists of a one-hour TaeCross, one hour RebounceFit and one hour SpinFit. The challenge starts at 07:00 until 10:00. It will cost you R250 to enter. • FroK events this October
Friends of Kloofendal (FroK) is a non-profit organisation, founded in August 2002. FroK drives environment and community projects and activities within Kloofendal Nature Reserve. FroK consists of dedicated guides and volunteers who use their wide variety of knowledge and time to promote education, conservation and community-based projects. This month they have some special events such as Orienteering, a new book launch, Bat evening, Biomimicry Workshop and a presentation on Urban Wildlife In Danger.

• Melville Koppies unaffected by load-shedding
If you’ve had enough of load-shedding determining your everyday life, make a plan to visit Melville Koppies with family or friends. They’re open every Sunday morning between 08:00 and 11:30, whether it’s Stage 5, 6, 7 or 8. Challenge yourself to the 5km hike, book a guided tour or be there by 08:30 to join the tour and learn about the history and how the living things interact. Or guide yourselves on the heritage trail or just meander along the many different paths that crisscross the Koppies. Adults R80, children R40; season ticket for a year per adult – R500 (non-transferable). Income used for maintenance of the Koppies. Security on the Koppies is provided; park in secure parking opposite the entrance at Marks Park on Judith Road, Emmarentia.


• I Am Second celebrate their 10 years at RUA Donkey Sanctuary!
Come Join I Am Second for their 10 year ministry celebration in South Africa on Friday, October 28. This will be an exclusive open-air event at Rest Ur Ass Donkey Sanctuary in Ruimsig, Roodepoort. Praise & Worship together with the incredible NFAITH Worship Team. Multi Media Films. Encouragement from I Am Second Vice-President John Humphrey (Dallas, USA) as well as Africa Directors Dave and Donna Kruger. There will be food trucks on site. Gates open at 17:00 and a portion of all the proceeds will go to the Sanctuary.
• Join Cradle Farms for an unforgettable Craft and Farmer’s Market
Join Cradle Farms at their family-friendly Craft and Farmer’s Market this weekend, October 1 and 2. Entrance is free and all are welcome! Over 70 vendors will be selling their ware ranging from crafts, artisanal food, plants at wholesale prices, locally produced body products, decor and handmade items right through to fresh produce, bread and homemade cheese from local farmers.
There will be a dedicated kiddies area with a jumping castle, slip-and-slide as well as a swimming pool.
Horse-riding, face-painting and arts and crafts will be available and for the reptile lovers, there will be producation with several interactive reptile shows throughout the day. There will be full adult supervision by child minders for the parents who want to take a break and enjoy the 1000sqm beach bar with artisanal gin and their popular local craft beer. Chezelle from the Voice will be entertaining those attending the market on Saturday, while Narboth and Will Rayz of SA’s Got Talent will be entertaining visitors with their amazing voices on Sunday.
• Enjoy Jessica’s October Beer Fest!
Join Jessica’s at Eagle Canyon Estate for great beer, great food, live entertainment and lots of fun on Saturday, October 29 from 10:00 to 22:00, with the highlight of the day being their oompah band.
• Rusty Hook presents their popular Rocky Horror Picture Show screening: a jump to the left!
Over 16s only! The event will take place on Saturday, October 1 from 18:00 to 22:00 at the Rusty Hook in Honeydew. They would like, if they may … to take you on a strange journey. Slip into those fishnets and get ready to to do the time warp again, and join them for an interactive screening of The Rocky Horror Picture Show. Dress up as your favourite Rocky Horror Picture Show character (there will be prizes for best dressed) and participate in the experience. Just like in the 70s they will be providing interaction scripts and props for a night like you’ve never experienced!
• Honeydew Urban Market hosts Spring Market!
The HUM is celebrating spring with a pop-up market! Join them on Saturday, October 1 from 09:00 to 15:00. Where? 2 Johan Road in Honeydew. Alongside their much-loved permanent vendors they are excited to welcome a variety of new vendors with unique offerings.
• RLT PRODUCTIONS presents DAYDREAMS AND STAGE MEMES
Finally, spring has arrived! It’s time to unwind, daydream, and have fun. RLT Productions cordially invites you to its brand-new October revue, Daydreams and Stage Memes, which is sure to have you giggling well into summer 2022. (You’ll need those warmed-up tummy muscles and flexible funny bones for their year-end production in December ’22.)
The RLT team will be taking a lighthearted romp on the boards, bringing to life the collective creativity of their talented team and special guest performers with comic sketches, mirthful monologues, and marvellous musical moments.

• Christmas Family Festival
Get some Christmas shopping done on Wednesday, November 16 at the EARTH Centre’s family market, and enjoy a pony ride and the beautiful riding displays. It’s sure to be a great time for the whole family!

• Randfontein Bowling Club Fun Day
Bowlers and non-bowlers are invited to enjoy Randfontein Bowling Club’s Fun Day to be held from 10:30 on October 2. Braai packs will be available to buy.

• Cast Aways Fundraiser
Support animal sanctuary Cast Aways’ fundraiser from 09:00 to 17:00 on Saturday, October 22. Besides a car show and food stalls there will be live music with Sheila, Theresa, Eqoud and Magneet as well as fun for the whole family. Come meet and greet their fur babies. • Save the date for the Cradle of Hope Charity Golf Day
Are you looking to spend a fun day on the golf course with some friends, and support a good cause? Well, save the date for the annual Cradle of Hope Charity Golf Day on Thursday November 3 at the Ruimsig Country Club. A four-ball will cost R3 400. The format is Better Ball Stableford, and includes supper, a halfway-house meal and drinks.
