Final Pam Golding Wildlife Estate Series a success

The third and final event of the Pam Golding Wildlife Estate Series for 2021 was a success.

This is according to Belinda Barkas from Pam Golding who told the Herald that about 147 participants competed in the 5km, 10km and 20km distances. The race took place on Saturday, October 30 at the Hoedspruit Wildlife Estate (HWE). She said they change the race times and started earlier than planned in order to work around the hot weather.

“It was great to finally host the final event of the series, slightly different from pre-Covid series events. Because we lost time between each event the momentum and build-up did not quite feel the same, we are however grateful for all the support from our title sponsors Pam Golding and all our LVTR runners for supporting our events,” she said.

She said Buco sponsored very well stocked water stations and Oasis supplied the water and sports drinks at the finish line. Their local physiotherapist, Lauren Porter was available to assist with all post-run niggles and Med Osh was the standby medics for the day.

“We would also like to thank the Blyde Wildlife Estate Homeowners Association and management for affording us the opportunity to run on their beautiful property,” she said.

She said online declaration forms were shared with all entrants prior to the event. Sanitising and a separate Covid station for those who had not completed their declaration forms online was well positioned and set far from the hive of activity at the main area.

Belinda said they are working towards hosting their annual Summer Dash Event at the end of November which is yet to be confirmed.
