Mariveni family calls for aid to rebuild collapsed house

A local family is facing difficult living conditions after severe weather damage left their home partially destroyed.

LIMPOPO – The Mkansi family of Mariveni village outside Tzaneen is appealing to the public, local businesses, and community members for assistance to rebuild a two-room house destroyed by floods earlier this year.

Living in poor and overcrowded conditions

Ranny Mkansi and his brother are unemployed and live with health and mental challenges that prevent them from working.

They are currently confined to a single remaining room, which serves as both a bedroom and kitchen and is in a severely dilapidated and unhygienic condition.

Although there is a family house on the same property, they are unable to use it due to family disputes.

The brothers rely solely on social grants, which are insufficient to cover rebuilding costs.

Structural deterioration over time

The structure, originally built in 1983 using mud bricks, has deteriorated significantly.

The roof is partially detached, two windows are broken, and parts of the walls have collapsed.

Appeal for building materials and support

The family is requesting donations of building materials, including cement, bricks, windows, doors, and roofing supplies, as well as financial contributions to help pay builders.
