Barcelona Development takes Super Championships Cup

Nkowankowa Barcelona Development Club’s under 15 team, has been crowned the Top 6 Super Cup Champions recently at the Nkowankowa Stadium.

They won the title after smashing Nkowankowa Classic 1-0 in the finals to walk away with the title, trophy, 15 gold medals and R800 prize money.
Sammy Mpenyane scored the goal which made them victorious.
Player of the Tournament was the club’s player, Vicky Mkhawana. The winning coach, Peace Khosa, said he was happy with the outcome of the two-day event.

“I feel happy, we prepared well and everything went according to what we had planned.
“I want to thank the players for the good football they showcased during the tournament and especially in the final match,” he said.
This is the second cup for the Nkowankowa soccer team. A few months ago they were also crowned Tzaneen’s South African Football Association Under 15 champions.

Top goal scorer, Surprise Maluleke.

The runner-up, Nkowankowa Classics, were able to take home the consolation price of 15 silver medals and R400 prize money.
Classics coach, Neville ‘Tsetse’ Mboweni, told the Herald, that despite the loss he was happy with the performance and determination his boys showed.
“I was happy to see them implementing what we taught them during training, it shows that they were listening. It also shows that they are determined to become great players all by themselves,” Mboweni added.
Classics player, Surprise ‘Rigo’ Maluleke, was named the Best Goal Scorer of the tournament with three goals.
