Anneli Nel, of High School Merensky, has been invited by the prestigious Allan Gray Orbis Foundation to join them on a student selection campin October, with the aim of becoming an Allan Gray fellow.

To be amongst the chosen few, Anneli had to write a National Benchmark Test, as well as pass a rigorous interview, where she had to convince the panel of her intellectual imagination, resourcefulness, entrepreneurial skills, determination, research procedures and impact on our society.

The national “circle of excellence” initiative was launched in 2008, and promotes development of educational standards and provision of quality schooling in SA. Circle of excellence schools receive recognition, support and encouragement from the foundation to ensure their continued provision of quality schooling in our country. High School Merensky, and Stanford Lake College are the only two partnering schools in the Tzaneen circuit, selected as circle members. These schools truly give stature to the circle’s motto: “from excellence to influence”.
