Meet the mayor’s manager
The manager in the Mayor's office at the Greater Letaba Municipality, Masilo Daniel Mokoena just added yet another qualification under his belt.
He now boasts of a PhD which he enrolled at the University of Limpopo from 2009-2014. Not only is he a man with countless qualifications but he is also a family man.He is married to Meriam and the couple is blessed with three children, Makwena, Maropene and Motlatjo. Mokoena was born at Bodupe bja kgale (Deelkraal farm), at Mooketsi. He is the last born (sixth child) of Motlatjo Mamolatelo and Maropne Mokwena.
He started his primary education at Mamokgadi Primary School and matriculated at Tseana High School in 1991. He completed his Senior Primary Teachers Diploma at Modjadji College1993. He furthered his studies with University of Witwatersrand where he obtained Further Diploma in Education (1998), Bachelor of Education (2000) and Master of Education in Policy Planning and Management (2004), and Master of Public Administration with University of Pretoria in 2009. Mokoena started teaching in 1995 at Mokutu Secondary School as a temporary teacher.
He secured a permanent post in 1996 at Matarapane Secondary School. In 2003 he worked at Hatlani-Muyexe High School as a deputy principal and later moved to Mizuzwana Primary School as the school’s principal in 2006.
He was promoted in 2008 as the Circuit Manager of Mamaila circuit. Apart from doing his job at the mayor’s office he also plays a role in some community development programmes. His crucial role is to manage the mayor’s office and advice the mayor in providing strategic and political leadership of the municipality.
