158 boys rescued at illegal initiation school outside Tzaneen

158 boys have been rescued from an illegal initiation school at Ramotshinyadi Village, outside Tzaneen on Wednesday.

According to Limpopo House of Traditional Leaders chairperson, Malesela Dikgale, a 25 year old man was arrested for running an illegal initiation school after the local leaders and residents raised an alarm about the school.

One parent said her 12 year old son went to the school without her permission and she was even more worried when she heard that the school did not have a permit to operate.

Another parent said her 11 year old son was tricked into going by people who earned commission each time they brought children to the school.

“If children want to go to initiation they should go willingly,” said the parent. Selinah Mohale, a mother of three said one of her sons was already there when the other went to join him.

“I did not have money to bail them out, this is like a blessing to me,” said Mohale.

“All initiates are in good condition” said Dikgale
