Former Post Office Manager sentenced to six years in Nkowankowa

Maile Mokgolane, former Post Office branch manager in Nkowankowa, was sentenced six years in prison for stealing R500 000.

He was sentenced in the Nkowankowa Regional court.

He was found guilty after failing to ensure the fees paid to the Post Office were banked each day.

SAPO spokesperson, Johan Kruger, said he was ordered to forfeit his pension contributions to the SA Post Office.

He was fired in September last year.

Initially, Mokgolane, was charged internally with theft and found guilty.

His arrest followed a crackdown on crime in the postal system.

The SA Post Office is trying hard to get rid of any fraudulent and criminal activities.
