KNP: Poacher killed, one arrested

AUDIO: The police have arrested two illegal poachers whilst the manhunt for others are still on in Phalaborwa and Hoedspruit.

The Police in Hoedspruit  have arrested two suspects aged 30 and 49 for the possession of an unlicenced hunting rifle and trespassing at Madrid farm near Hoedspruit

The Police have received a tip-off from members of the community about the suspects who were enroute to commit illegal poaching at Madrid.

They reacted swiftly and arrested the suspects.

During the arrest, one rifle, live ammunition and one axe were recovered.

Meanwhile in Phalaborwa, the Police have launched a manhunt for two armed illegal poachers who were cornered inside the Kruger National Park. and

A shootout ensued between the rangers and the suspects.

During the shootout, one poacher was fatally wounded and his two accomplices managed to flee the scene and disappeared,’ the police said in a statement.

The identity of the deceased is still unknown.

Police investigations are still ongoing.
