Tzaneen: Avo thieves caught ‘green’ handed

'A local farmer caught avocado thieves who tormented Georges Valley for months.'

According to a Facebook post by Theo de Jager, the thieves were caught  red handed at 03:00 in the morning as they tried to get away with the loot.

The value of the load is at this week’s avocado prices on the Johannesburg fresh produce market, estimated at R29 000.

The police impounded the vehicle.

‘Now we are all eagerly awaiting the outcome of the investigation and the court case, as fruit thieves have gotten off very lightly in recent years,’ De Jager posted.
