Oral Health and Physiotherapy month launched

In compliance with the National Health Calender, Dr C.N Phatudi Hostpital launched the oral health month and physiotherapy week recently.

Stakeholders from across Mopani district health facilities graced the event which was held at the hospital premises.

Also in attendance were the acting Mayor Councillor Given Malatji, the chairperson of BakgagaTraditional, Health Practitioners, Nkuna Traditional Authority Charles Mohlaba, local indunas, Bulamahlo, a local project, Mrs Shai Project Manager for A re Tsogeng Batsofe at Pharare and other community projects representatives.

In his address, Malatjie indicated that Health is a right according to the constitution and that people should receive such services for free at primary health care level and pay for services in the hospital according to the tariff schedule.

He encouraged community members to comply with the referral system to avoid long queues in public hospitals.

He further thanked the management of the hospital for organizing such interactive sessions and encouraged people to attend and be informed.

Dr C.N Phatudi hospital recently launched the Oral Health and Physio-Therapy month.

Imparting information to the community in pursuit of a long and healthy life for all South Africans is our priority.

In his presentation, Dr Hlengani Makhubela emphasized on basic oral health practices such as visiting dental clinic twice a year(once every six months), using a dental floss, brushing teeth twice a day, good brushing technique, using a fluoride tooth paste and eating a balanced diet.

“It is important for people to keep their smiles for their lifetime through proper oral health practices,” said Makhuvele.

The dental team continues to reach out to clinics and schools in their quest to promote oral health.

Traditional healers supporting the launch

The physiotherapist Thabo Baloi also shared important information with stakeholders on how to take care of our backs and general body activity.

He also demonstrated how to pick objects from the floor and emphasized that instead of bending your back, rather bend your knees.

Baloi further indicated that exercise is good for your heart since it helps in blood circulation and decreases blood pressure.

He encourages people to walk for a long distance, stretch our bodies, especially those who sit for long hours in offices, dance as much as you can and join exercise groups in your locality to keep your body healthy.

“Above all, exercise improves brain functioning” he concluded his presentation.

Both oral health and Physiotherapy clinics open at 07:30 am in the morning and close at 16:30pm weekdays.
