The disgruntled rate-payers in Phalaborwa got together on Saturday November 4 to show their disappointment in the municipality’s handling of the Municipal funds.

A memorandum, stipulating all their grievances, was handed over to the mayor.

The memorandum highlighted important issues that are to be addressed and answered by the Ba-Phalaborwa Municipality within 21 days through various municipal departments.

The issues included the following: rates and taxes increase, water (leaking), sewage (spills and new mainline), electricity (street lights), corruption, roads, municipal bylaws, illegal buildings, etc.

The Mayor accepted the memo and ‘promised’ to have the answers ready within 14 days.

 

More than 200 citizens attended the march.

However, due to work commitments, many could not attend, but were with the marches in ‘spirit’!
