TZANEEN: On-duty police officer shot and robbed

The police have launched a massive manhunt for suspects who shot a police sergeant.

‘The police have launched a massive manhunt for a group of about five unknown suspects, allegedly wearing bullet proof vests, who shot and injured a police sergeant at around 01:00 this morning robbing him of his service pistol and a cellphone,’  Brig Motlafela Mojepelo said.

The injured member was on patrol duties in Tzaneen.

Preliminary investigations reveal that the same suspects are believed to have broken into a house at Medipark in Tzaneen earlier, ordered the occupants, husband, his wife and a child at gun point to lay on the floor before robbing them of a cellphone and a white Nissan Sentra motor vehicle with registration numbers ADV6067.
