The healthcare train brings aid to Tzaneen’s residents
The PheloPhepha Health Train is back in Tzaneen for two weeks.
The health train is basically a hospital on wheels which consist of the following clinics; Dentistry, Eye care, Nursing, Psychology and Pharmacy.
It opened its doors to the community on Monday and will be around only for two weeks, on the 20th it will close shop.
“The Phelophepha train is about offering primary health care services to the rural and under-priviledge communities of South Africa.

“The train is open Mondays to Fridays from 08:00 until the last registered patient leaves,” said Train Manager, Lynette Flusk.

Free services include counselling, eye testing, cancer education, pap smears, prostate and breast screenings.
All glasses are R30 each, and spectacles are made the very same day that the patients are tested.

“We have 22 permanent employees, we are woking with local nurses and we also have final year medical university students from all over the country as part of their practical work,” Flusk explained.
After Tzaneen the train’s next stop will be Polokwane and then Mokopane.

“The sooner the members of the community come to the train the better, they must not wait for the last week to come, because sometimes we are working by the first come first serve system,” Flusk added.
