Police arrest one of their own in Giyani

The police arrested one of their own on Friday in Giyani, the man formed part of a trio syndicate which was on a mission to rob Giyani CBD businesses.

“Preliminary investigations revealed that the officer works at Brits Police Station in the North West, and that he is from Sekororo area outside Tzaneen,” Colonel Ngoepe, SAPS Spokesman explained.

The officer together with his accomplice were arrested after robbing a female university student, but they were nabbed before they could continue with their plan.

The constable was found in possession of a police firearm with 15 live rounds of ammunition and his accomplice was found with three cell phones and R1400 which is believed to be the money they were robbing from innocent people.

The duo will appear before the Giyani Magistrate Court soon.
