The Municipality has not attended to the road reserves in and around Aqua Avenue/ Annecke Street due to being short staffed, according to Greater Tzaneen Municipality (GTM) media spokesperson Neville Ndlala.
LETABA HERALD reported recently about the dire condition that the stretches of land between the road and Golden Acres/Macadamia, called the road reserve, has been left.
The grass can be seen growing up to knee length – leaving joggers and cyclists to run on the side of the road next to the untamed grass.
“The road reserve outside Golden Acres as far as grass-cutting is concerned is maintained by our Home Owners Association at the home owners cost. Although it is not our responsibility we do it to promote our estates. The public should put more pressure on the GTM to get the roadside paved. I’m sure with the Herald’s help it could succeed,” Johann Brown, voiced his concern to the HERALD.
As mentioned the previous report, the HERALD reached out to the GTM to find out whether they intend to clean up the area.
“After engagement with the parks team I established that we are short staffed, the team was clearing over grown grass in the old industrial area, they will go to lifestyle side, Agatha cemetery afterwards, we are still trying to find a way to speed up the process but priority is places most frequented by people,” explained Ndlala.
