Nhlalala donates food to needy creches

hlalala ya Vatsonga Community Project definitely agrees with the saying that 'it takes a village to raise a child'.

The Non-Profit Organisation was established in 2017 by Hlulani Shikwambana and Jonni Malubana after noticing the high level of poverty in their neighbourhood.

The project focuses on arts and culture, youth empowerment and community upliftment.

They mostly run the projects from their own pockets.

They donated groceries to two creches which are self-funded recently.

The lucky schools were, Lekgetho Day Care Centre in Mhangweni Village and Ngula Day Care Centre in Burgersdorp Village.

Lekgetho is a one roomed creche with only 16 kids who mostly come from poverty stricken families.

The room is used as a class room, kitchen and a playing room for the learners who are between the ages of 0-4 years.

“I would like to thank Nhlalala ya Vatsonga for the donations, our learners will have enough food to eat,” said Anna Raboenyana, Founder of Lekgetho Day Care Centre.

Raboenyana also appealed to community members and local businesses to assist the school with the building of a kitchen, toilets, storage and two more classrooms.

Meanwhile, Ngula Day Care Centre also suffer from similar issues, they only have two classrooms in which one is used for storage and for learning.

Tsakani Mbhalati one of the educators told Letaba Herald that they are grateful for the donations and it will surely come in handy.

Mbhalati also asked the community to assist them with building of a bigger creche which will make sure that their 43 kids can learn with ease.
