Bridge swinging is latest rage in Tzaneen area

Bridge swinging is here for locals to enjoy! Local couple, Ruan Viljoen and Renske Hagg, both adventure enthusiasts and at the top of their game has introduced this adrenaline rush activity to Limpopians to enjoy locally.

Ruan and Renske have been presenting bridge swinging for the students at the Warriors Academy for the last few years but they are now giving locals the chance to experience this adrenaline rush for themselves.

Herald was invited to experience it first hand from the Politsi bridge, just off the R36 over the Tzaneen Dam.

“Safety first!” Renske says on arrival.

Herald jounalist, Tintswalo Shipalana was going to take the plunge.

Tintswalo Shipalana.

She was put through the steps of what was going to happen, rigged up and with all the equipment in place she was ready to take the 35 meter plunge!

With bridge swinging you do not swing from your ankles as with bungee jumping.

You take the plunge in an upright position.

Renske and Ruan will be at the bridge over weekends during the festive season. You can contact them on their Facebook page Magoebaskloof ME, or you can call Renske on 060 569 2978 to arrange your own swing experience.

The costs range from R300 to R600 depending on the number of persons in a group.
