Man who jumped off Tzaneen Dam bridge identified

The police in Tzaneen have revealed the identity of the man who jumped off a bridge on Saturday.

Col Gezani Baloyi told Herald that the deceased has been identified as 44-year-old Nakampe Daniel Mohale from Marironi village in Bolobedu South.

His body was retrieved this morning (Monday) by the K9 search and rescue team. It is alleged the deceased drove his company car to the bridge before he jumped off the bridge.

The jump was spotted by someone who was fishing.

“The company he worked for got worried when the deceased did not report back to work and they tracked the car. When a colleague went to inquire the fisherman told him that the owner of the car jumped off the bridge. The police were then notified,” he said.

Baloyi said the search started on Saturday and they continued on Sunday until it was dark.

“An inquiry of a missing person was opened, but now will be changed to an inquest,” he said.
