Toyota collides with police van on R81 road

Police in Giyani are investigating a case of reckless and negligent driving after a police van collided with a Toyota Corolla on the R81 road towards Bode village outside Giyani on Wednesday morning, November 2.

It is alleged that a Toyota Corolla was travelling from Nwamankena to Giyani while the police van in the direction in the direction of Nwamankena (Tzaneen) from Giyani. A taxi travelling in front of the Corolla suddenly stopped on the road to pick up a passenger. The driver of the Corolla swerved to another lane to avoid colliding with the taxi.

The Corolla collided head-on with the oncoming police vehicle. The driver of the Toyota and the two police officers were transported to a nearby hospital for medical treatment. The scene of the accident was attended to by Mopani District Crime Prevention head, Brig Mashila, station commander of the Giyani Police Station, Brig Serakwana, and Vispol commander, Col Shiviti.
