Messages of congratulations stream in for Ndavi

Congratulatory messages from all over the country have been pouring in for the newly crowned Miss South Africa 2022, Ndavi Nokeri.

The 23-year-old from Tzaneen was named a fan favourite from the Top 30 stages up to the finale. On Saturday, August 13, she outshined nine other beauties, to become the country’s most beautiful woman at the SunBet Arena in Pretoria. As a result, she has won R1 million in cash and a sponsorship package totalling more than R3 million, including the use of a serviced apartment at the lavish Ellipse Waterfall for
the year of her reign.

She will also get to drive a Mercedes-Benz C-Class sedan. Ndavi defined her win as a groundbreaking moment. She said it reaffirms that village girls’ dreams are valid, regardless of where they come from. “As your Miss South Africa, I understand the importance of representation, because it is through seeing other women look beyond their fears and their circumstances, that I gained the courage to rise to the call.

“I will represent South Africa, in all its diversity, resilience, and beauty. It really does take a village, and I am so grateful that my village showed up for me. It is now for me to work and ensure that every success of mine overflows into my country. Thank you for trusting me with this position. As this journey begins, I will work to make it a chapter in which anyone who has ever felt ostracised feels included and reassured of the value that they bring into the world,” she said.

The young beauty queen is the only person from Tzaneen to have won the title and the first ever Tsonga woman to win the prestigious crown. The Nokeri family told the Herald that her win is nothing but the grace of God. Her father, Pastor Moses Nokeri, said he could not hold back his tears as she was announced as the reigning queen. “I’m deeply grateful for the support Ndavi received from the people of Gavaza, Tzaneen, Limpopo, and South Africa as a whole,” he said.

Some of the messages of congratulations received were from President Cyril Ramaphosa, Limpopo premier, Stanley Mathabatha, and the Greater Tzaneen Municipality mayor, Gerson Molapisane. Ndavi will be representing the country at the world’s three most prestigious pageants, Miss World, Miss Universe, and Miss Supranational.
